The 33-year-old left-hander reached the milestone on the final day of the third and final Test against Australia in Bridgetown, which the hosts lost by 87 runs to lose the series 2-0.Chanderpaul joins some elite company in Caribbean cricket with Brian Lara (11,953), Sir Viv Richards (8,540) and Sir Garfield Sobers (8,032) the only names ahead of him."It feels good to reach such a landmark and I'm really pleased to have made over 8,000 runs for the West Indies," he told the West Indies Cricket Board's official website."I have joined a group of great players and obviously I am happy with my achievements."When I started I had no major achievements in the front of my mind. I just wand to do well West Indies whenever I went out to bat."
